So I was driving around on Tuesday, looking for a place to fly my drone, and I came across the North Texas’ Premier Autism Therapy Center in Denton, TX. I met the director, Brad Bevelhimer, who graciously allowed me to take video and pictures of their behavioral therapy ranch in the early morning. I have included a link to the video here and here.
This place is amazing! If you have never been to a ranch, then you are missing out on a wonderful, peaceful experience! I drove up early Wednesday and parked my car at the end of the driveway pictured here. The sun was just about to peak over the horizon, so I quickly put my DJI Phantom 4 together and captured some amazing photos and videos. While I didn’t capture the dew on the grass, it was definitely there as I flew around. After several deep breaths, serenity just washed over me and the hair on my arms stood on end from the chill in the air.
While I waited for Brad to show up, I sat down and just closed my eyes. I have always loved the outdoors, and being there gave me just the calm that I needed.
The ranch itself is divided into several parts. There is a huge pasture for several horses to graze, and when I got there they were bunched together under a small grove of trees. The gravel driveway is lined with trees on either side, which made it a bit challenging for the drone to avoid. On the north side of the driveway sits a ranch-style house, which is where the therapists work inside with the kiddos. On the south side is a playground for younger children, as well as several sturdy wooden chairs for adults to sit on under a huge, shade tree. North and west of the house are the horses, a dog pen, and a caged area where four different goats reside.
Have you ever watched horses graze? There is something about that particular activity that is so relaxing! The whole experience felt like a long, lingering hug from a loved one who you haven’t seen in a long time. That is the best way that I know to describe how I felt.
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and the entire experience left a huge impression on my heart. I am so grateful that I found this place, and I hope to spend more time there in the near future!
Just a quick word about the video and the photos that I included. Because the ranch deals mainly with autistic children, I wanted to capture the essence of the place both from their perspective, as well as from above, almost like a low-flying plane swooping down from above. Kids are absolutely fascinated with flying objects, and the few kids that I saw that morning were all absolutely mesmerized when they saw the drone.
FYI, per the owner’s request, I did not include any audio, so if you are wondering about that, that was by design. Otherwise, please comment and share this post with your friends and family! I hope you like the video!
